It's electronic fuel injection t.b.i. with two throttle bodies and injectors instead of one like the hundreds of thousands of Chevy trucks. If they are old school you can explain it like a EFI Crossram. Some early Corvettes ran dual quads on a cross ram intake the crossfire is the same idea however with EFI. One of the most misunderstood engines ever put into a Corvette in my opinion. I would be willing to bet many 283 2X4 Corvettes had their dual quads yanked back in the day too.
"Crossfire Motor" is really kind of a misnomer....under the twin throttle body injection system is the same small block engine chevy used for nearly 3 decades.
The L83 designation was what Chevy called this particular setup. With minimal maintenance, they will run reliably for 200K and beyond.
i was tryin to explain to some younger guys and i pretty much said either its like having 2 throttle bodies on 1 manifold or if they didnt know what that meant i said it was like having to carbs that are fuel injected.
Hello
Im new here, and I just purchased an 84.Pretty nice shape It had some noisey lifters and when I went to set them I found out it has roller rockers. After all said and done kinda sounds like the old 30/30 cam-oh it also has a nice set of long tube headers.I was thinking of putting a set of 3.73 or 4.11s in it-Is there any other good hop ups or things to look into?-It just don't seem to run as good as it sounds?-I know it is only a 200hp. car ,I seen the post about checking the fuel pressure?
Thanks for any opinions
