I am considering a 95-96 vert, preferrably w/ an LT4 and 6 speed w/ around 50000 miles give or take. What is a good price structure to consider and should I focus on a specific year or option(s)? I had an 88 z52 vert w/46000, 4+3. The car was totalled by another driver, I am recieving compensation but do not know much about the later c4's. Thanks for any imput
You know I have only been buying and selling cars for 7 years, I have had over 10 already and I'm 23. But one thing I have definately noticed, vehicles values differ greatly from area to area, sometimes by a lot!
For instance, when I bought my 96 TA, I was living in Dove Canyon/Coto De Caza southern OC. They were going for 15k or so with the mileage I was looking for. But just 75 miles away up in some hobunk town I found mine for 12,400 and even talked him down to a 12k flat. That was in superb condition with low miles. I would definately check out eBay, Autotrader.com and maybe some of the other popular forums for vettes.
Check out this link to see what I mean, I am in a nice area of SD county and the top 2 vettes are more than the bottom 2 which are 75+ miles away. http://tinyurl.com/2darod

Well if you want an LT4, you will have to focus on a specific year and transmission. They were only available in 1996 and only with 6-speed trans.
As for the price, you will find they are all over the spectrum. Location plays a bigger role in price than most people think it does.
The '96 model was also the best the C4 had to offer as far as getting all the bugs, squeeks, rattles, etc. out.
FWIW,..the C4 is the best bargain in the biz. No other used car can match the options and performance, dollar for dollar. And I own two C3's and three 69 Camaros,..and a 96 LT4 Coupe.
If you are in the market for a 95- 96 convertible I would recommend spending whatever it takes to get a good 96 with an LT-4 or you will probably wish you had. $20K is an accurate figure for a nice car though you could possibly start digging and turn up something for less somewhere but be prepared to travel to look at cars. There was a black on black LT-4 vert in Alabama a year or so ago with optional hardtop and 35K miles for $19K that I missed out on; while writing the guy back and forth for pictures and asking questions someone else swooped in and bought it. Be ready to pull the trigger when you find a good buy or you may lose it!

Sound advise here. An LT-4 Vert is a nice ride and you would be hard pressed to find a better C4. You get what you pay for.
