Winter is here! It rained all night and the morning was nothing but grey as far as the eye could see. Woke up in a foul mood. Kissed my dog. Kicked my wife. Still not feeling very perky. Fast forward a couple of hours and the sun is shining. The little woman is off to work and I'm wondering what to do. Then, out of the blue, it comes to me. WHY NOT TAKE THE VETTE OUT FOR A DRIVE! I take off toward the local ferry that leads to a nice twisty levee road that circles Ryer Island, one of the many islands in the Sacramento Delta area. I pretty much have the road to myself so I spend the next hour cruising some of the prettiest farm land I've ever seen in the sweetest car I've ever owned. Don't remember when I started smiling but I haven't stopped yet!
That little red '89 coupe has made my day and turned a depressing morning into a flat out groove of a day. Just thought I'd share.
I have wanted a C4 for more than twenty years.
Now that I have one it's like my birthday everytime I drive it.
On the rare day I take it to work, it's like a reward at the end of the day.
There's something about a Vette...

I did the same thing today.Took the '96 out to fill the gas tank for the winter before putting her into the storage garage. Some dweeb in his suv is trying to keep up with me in the corners.........yea, right;dream on you wannabe!!! Finally got back to the garage and the wife is waiting for me there. She sees the smile on my face as I pull up.As I pull into the garage,I let the window down just to say to her,"God, I luv driving this thing." I am already having Corvette withdrawal.
Nothing like man, machine and a nice road. All I can tell you at this point about "C4 Therapy" is that after I finally find "my '89", I'm gonna need therapy to get my head straight again!
Whenever I get feeling down I go for a drive in the 89. I always return with a smile on my face. My favorite place I've gone so far is Crow Canyon Road running from San Ramon to Hayward. Wasnt exactly supposed to driving out there, but couldnt resist. I just had to see what a curvy canyon road was like in a Corvette. Now I am hooked on going out of the way just for the fun of some little windy road. I look forward to every time I strap into the vette.
What great story! I'm right there with you. I've had mine for a little over a year now, and I just love it everytime I drive it. It's really amazing how a quick run to the store just around the corner always seems to take an hour Have you ever come home from a drive, pulled into the driveway, and decided you just didn't want to stop. Back the car out and take off again? Happens to me all of the time.
I take my 4 year old grand daughter out in the 86, and we put on helmets, zig zag through the traffic, and burn rubber from stop signs. when we get home, she almost always says "do it again". I love the car that can make us laugh and smile, oh, and that terriffic little kid.
