Default AFS wheels?

I'm still reasearching.
AFS wheels has an excellent price for early C4 wheels.
Polished aluminum ZR1s with Vredestein Sessanta tires.

I would appreciate input from anyone who has either, or both.
Thanks.

Is that legit to put that here, since they are a non supporting vendor?

I am running AFS polished aluminum, 9.5 wide on the front with Firestone Wide Oval 285/40s and 11" on the rear with Sumitomo 315/35. No problems, like the look, etc.

Guess I should add the FSWOs are great, the Sumitomos are cheap and not so great, but I got what I paid for.

Those look great. Are they that shiny in person?
Reasonably easy to maintain?

I bought these wheels and could not be happier with them. They are a direct bolt on for you '87 and they have raised center caps, not a crappy decal.

I contacted AFS, and they have a pretty good deal. I was also considering polished aluminium versus chrome due to the risk of flaking and rust with chrome.

Was it less than the FactoryReproductions.com price? I see AFS Wheels on eBay and they are about $95 more than the link in my first response.

This is not an issue if you are in a salt-free environment and keep them clean, which is quite easy to do.

AFS is the only source I've found for polished. Tomz doesn't have polished, only painted silver. AFS's price is very good.

I am in NE Ohio, LOTS of salt here. I park my vette in the winter, but on those warm spring days, you get the car out, and salt is still on the road.

I have the polished zr1's from AFS. If I could do it again I would go with chrome or the GS black. Mine have not done well with brake dust and are a PITA to keep clean. I do use aftermarket pads though, so that may have something to do with it.

I've heard chrome is easier to clean, and I do like chrome better. But there is salt here, and I am a little concerned about rust and flaking.

Yes and Yes. I will use some polish on them every 3-4 months and it takes only 1-2 hrs, the rest of the time is just wash them when I wash the car.

Are your rears 11"? If so, let me know if you want to sell them.

I have had the black GS style wheels on my 86 for 4 years. They still look great . They also run very true.

Can't speak for the polished, as I have the chrome ZR1 repros. 2 years old now. I use regular Mcguire's car polish on them whenever I polish the car. No rust or chips (other than the one curb rash chip I put in one rim - epoxy glued the chip back on)

Just an info tip, they're only chrome on the outside of the spokes. Inside of the spokes is the machined surface of the cast alloy/aluminum.

I've only had the car in the rain a few times, and of course it's put away for the winter months.

Can't help with the tire either, but I've heard only good reports from members who have them. I got Kelly 275-40VR17s at all corners.
