I just got my car back from the shop havin the opti, water pump, plugs and wires replaced, I get in it to come home and that light is on...and its not going off even with the car shut off in the garage! what the hell is up? my remote died about a month after i got it and this light has never been on before but at start up..PLZ help!
First, I would try disconnecting the negative battery cable. Let it sit for 5 min and reconnect it. This might reset the pcm and see if the light goes off. Secondly, get a new battery for your fob. I seem to go through on every other month. They say they should last for 18 months, but that is not my experience. I usually get mine at Wal-mart, about $4.

Presume you mean the 'Passive eyless Entry' lamp on/in the DIC.
Might this be the first time the battery has been disconnected for a long period of time since you lost the remote FOB (presume the mechanic disconnected the battery while working on the car)?
Any chance the mechanic left something plugged into the DLC (plug below the driver side dash)?
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and reconnecting it to see if the light goes out?
Have you an FSM? Have you tried to pull the PKE DTC codes?
Assuming your 1993 is the same as our 1994, pulling the codes can be accomplished by grounding pin # 8 in the DLC (e.g. connect a jumper wire from pin # 8 to pin # 4 or 5 as both are 'grounds')?
