Default lock lugs

Hi maybe I'm missing something I ordered and got new wheels front www.discounttiredirect.com and they sent me a lug/mounting kit and all 20 lug nuts where locking nuts? so I called back and they said they would send a new kit out and it also contained all locking nuts.
So I called back again and they said this was the right kit and this is a new trend?
Is this what everyone's doing am I missing something? I said I did not want 20 lock lugs I wanted 16 chrome nuts regular and 4 locking nuts..

I've never heard of that before. When I got my wheels, I got 1 locking lug nut for each wheel.

When I got my new ZR1s from TOMZWHEELS I saw that they had shipped a box of chromed lug nuts and a small package of lock nuts. Since my Vette is always garaged I figured that I didn't need the lock nuts and proceeded to install each wheel with the chrome lug nuts only. About midway through the third wheel I realized that I wasn't going to have enough regular lug nuts. After recovering from this "senior moment" I went back and swapped out a regular for a lock nut on the wheels I had already installed. After finishing my install with the required locking lug nut on each wheel I stood back to admire my work. That's when I realized that I had installed two wheels with the tire rotation going the wrong way! Since I didn't have any jack stands it was a real PITA to correct my mistake (had to reinstall an old wheel for a bit.). Thank God that I didn't choose car mechanics as my life's work!

Those lug nuts are called "Tuner" lugs. The socket is universal and fits all other tuner lug nuts.

"Gorilla" makes a Locking "Tuner" lug nut that has a slightly different side spline and is marked with a "G" on the top of the lug nut.

Well the tool/socket came with a serial number to get a new one from gorilla and it fits all 20 lugs and the second one came with a another serial number and it fits all the other lugs?
so I'm confused then. I do not have all lock lugs?
Plus the box says on it 16 lug nuts and 4 lock lugs.

I'd go ahead and put them on. How often do you have to deal with taking on/off your wheels anyway. Plus, it might help keep thieves away.

Those aren't really locking lug nuts. They're just splined lug nuts that require the provided universal socket to remove them. Anyone that has those type of lug nuts can remove them because they have the same universal socket you have.

If you really have 4 locking lug nuts in the package, there should be another keyed socket that won't fit on the other 16 lug nuts and 4 lugnuts with a "G" stamped on the end.

I bought the 4 "Gorilla" locking lug nuts for my sons Honda, at a local speed shop for $18. The locking lug nuts have a spline missing so, the regular socket can't fit over them.
