Thought this would be an easy find using the search, but alas no...
Anyone remove the hatchback? The tint shop wants $200 to remove the old tint. The side windows would be easy for me, but the hatchback would be a mess and difficult.
If I could remove it, the tint removal would be MUCH easier.
It looks like 2 bolts for the side struts, just not sure about any surprises on the part that attaches to the roof.
There are two 13mm nuts on each hinge, and two 10mm nuts on the third brake lamp bracket. These are accessable by removeing the inner "B" pillar trim. If he can get the old tint off the back window without damaging the rear window defroster lines, it might very well be worth $200 bucks.
Look around. I found a tint guy to not only remove my old tint from all three windows, he retinted with limo tint on the rear and 20% on the sides for 140.00 cash. Yes I have a rear defroster.

Exactly the same here. You should be looking for a better tint shop, not a way to remove the hatch glass. Oh, and by the way what happens if you drop and break it? $$$$$ and more $$$$$ is what.

The tinter will probably remove it to tint the curvature in the glass.
Too hard to do it upside down, inside a small area.
It's really not that hard of a job to take it off.
I've done it by myself without any problem. Plus the glass is tempered, so it shouldn't break too easily. But if it does, exspenive lesson learned.
I have never heard of a tinter removing the hatch. My 'tinter' put the tint on the outside of the hatch and worked it with a heat gun for over 1/2 hour to 'form' the tint to the hatch glass. He then installed it as one piece with no problem. Maybe some would remove the hatch, but not around here.
