Default Console refinishing on '96

The console area of my '96 is lloking a little rough. I know that GM put a black rubberized finish on it from the factory. Any where i can get this paint? Thanks in advance....

I ordered a brand new one from Ken Fichtner, supporting vendor here on the forum.

Pologreen96, 96polovette here, when I first purchased my car the center console shifter plate was peeling. I planned on priming and painting it with an automotive flat black spray paint. I spent a lot of time stripping the rubber like coating and got it all off. Next I spent a lot of time sanding it as there were several scratches in the plastic from 10 years of use. Next I applied a primer that is supposed to be made for plastics. The primer reacted with the plastic and made a zillion surface cracks. They were too deep to resand. I did try to paint it but the surface texture was terrible. I believe the result would have looked really nice had the primer not shredded the surface layer of the plastic. In hindsight I would have just paid the $150 for the replacement plate I eventually purchased at Willcox, it looks good and so far the finish on it seems to be lasting. This is one problem that is easier solved by purchasing a replacement and installing it yourself.

I recently purchased this unit and the quality was excellent.
It's not worth trying to refinish this thing when you can buy a new one for $100.

I'd second that, especially for that price - refinishing them sounds like a lot of meticulous work that may or may not come out looking good.
