Default where does it idle at ?

i noticed in a couple of video clips that some people are idleing around 1500rpm's but my vette is around 600-800 is that normal?

also it takes the car a little long to get up to temputure maybe like 5minutes is that normal as well ?

and one more thing.... when i start it up and the car is cold i let it set for a few minutes and after about 3 minutes it starts to throw out smoke from the exhaust from it being cold but why does it take so long for it to start smokin ?

there is absolutely no reason to let it "warm up" for upwards of 3 minutes. Let it run for 30 seconds to get the oil circulating and then drive off.

the only exception is if it is REAL cold - as in below 0*F - but normally, it's not an issue.

White smoke at startup is normal, it should not last more than 3-5 minutes after start up.

It's all handled in your PROM programming.

My '96 LT1 auto idles at 900 rpm. I find myself shifting into neautral at stop lights so I don't have to hold the brake as firm.

My LT-4 idles about 750 once it's well warmed up.
