thinkin of adding remote start onto my 95 C4, have factory alarm on now but lost the trasmitter, new one cost bout 150 ++, thought i mite get better deal i if just replace with new alarm and remote start, anyone have any suggestion on what brand to go with
i used to have remote start and turbo timer feature built in on a supra i used to have and i loved it. i mgiht get it for my vette now. i think i had a brand called crimestopper.
I used bulldog security for my remote start.
Not tring to hijack but would any problems come out of doing this? As in with the old PKE alarm set up? Do you have to gut it out? Mine is a 96 any diff.?
I was thinking of getting one for my wife's vette.
The system that they were going to install was a Viper.
I was quoted $200The place that does them says he has done several and never had a problem. He said he would also have to install a bypass because of the chip on the key.
Buy a Viper, Python, Hornet or Your Valet. Best made product around.
I tried them all as a dealer and DEI always out preformed all others and they offered the best accesories to work in conjuction with any passive security systems like the Vats system I have in my 91.
DO NOT PUT A REMOTE START WITH A MANUAL TRANS. i CAN TELL YOU SOME STORIES.

Someone posted a while back that their vette went through a garage door because of it.
But is that the alarm's fault?
If you leave the car in gear then obviously this is gonna happen, it's not gonna hold the clutch in for you - though granted it should have a safety feature that doesn't allow that to happen.
That being said, I had a Clifford on my car (6 spd) that had this feature and it was cool, but I never used it. You had to use a very specific procedure when shutting the car off to even get it to work.
BTW I'm selling the Clifford if anyone wants it, it's an older Avant Garde system but has tons of cool features.
