I have a 94 with 156k miles and I JUST started pouring money into it. After 150k miles I had to put in . water pump, distrib, cap, plugs, clutch, flywheel, gears, seals, u joints, wheel bearing, fluids, ect... . about 5 G's later Im bored , broke and want something newer and nicer. ONLY thing. My dad bought the car brand new and its family to us. but Its getting old and is packing on the miles with atleast 300 miles a week to and from work. I am thinking of getting a GTO 2005-06 because of the back seat and the LS2. I have a 6month old puppy thats 68 lbs and he doesnt fit to well into the back of the vette to well anymore. I DONT think the GTO is as sexy as the vette but I have to get something practical. I love u guys and will miss u guys and thats something i'm thinking about as well. IM stuck. Any other car ideas would be great. Thanks
Lightning's not to practical if your running 300 miles a week. They only get 12mpg and run hightest. Although it's a fast truck, and there is alot of mods for it. I really like mine, and the looks you get when you smoke someone in a pickup.
GTO's are good, if you get past the styling. You may want to consider keeping the vett though, with that mileage, the 6 spd, and the current market, you are going to have a tough time selling it. (about $7k - $8k, less if you trade it, no matter what they say they are giving you).
maybe think about selling it and getting a C5? I know, I know, blasphemy. But they have considerably more storage room, and just room in general. If that's the problem, there's a solution so you could stay in the Vette family at least. If you need a backseat, I don't know what to tell ya.

How could that be blasphemy? Its still in the family. If I could afford a C5 Z06 or new C6 I would drop my C4 like a hooker with HIV.
well my dad has the CTS and loves it. I told him to grow a pair and get the V...But as far as my options. Id like a GTO. or maybe even keeping the vette and getting a turbo Desiel Truck--POWER STROKE-- sorry for the non ford fans but..anyone have one of those?
I have a Trailblazer SS and love it. It comes with the LS2 as well, runs high 13's stock, and has all the utility you need. However, it only gets about 15MPG on average. The truck takes mods great as well.

If you want a truck, get one. F150 are good trucks so are the Silverados. Dodge????????
In a diesel the Dodge is probably the best with the Cummings.
Any diesel truck will have problems. Diesel power mag is a good mag to get an idea of just what a diesel is or isn't.
If you buy a diesel any brand get a extened warranty. Repair costs are high.
Ford is a hit and miss company. The 7.3 has a good rep. The 6.0 doesn't. The kid bought a 04 Excursion with the 6.0 and it had its share of problems.
After 6 months they dumped at a big loss. Trucks you're not going to get good mileage with any of them.
If it was me I'd buy a E55.
We have a E320 thats Consumer Reports rated at 31 mpg.
An 300E is a good diesel.
I like the CTS Caddies myself, I haven't driven a GTO yet so I can't comment on those. If you're looking at a Diesel truck look carefully, I liked the older ford diesels but haven't heard much good about the last couple of years. After '04 my family switched to Dodge and Chevy trucks after running Fords for 9 years.
Hate to admit it but we aren't particularly brand loyal because the big three have all had stinkers over the last twenty years.
hm... your broke so you buy a new car? there is a logical gap there I am having trouble spanning.
Keeping the Vette and buying a used "practicalmobile" would probably be much cheaper (including insurance) than buying a new car or a used performance car. A quick search showed dozens of 2003-2005 Civics (very dependable) in the $6K range under 40K miles. I'm guessing a 400HP used GTO used would cost you at least $20K.
Having said that, if I had to have a rear seat, only one car, and had about $20K to spend, the GTO would be tempting. Blasphemy though it may be, a Mustang Cobra from a few years back with maybe 50K miles would also be tempting -- nobody said anything about a BIG rear seat!
My everday car is an 07 CTS. Very nice car, comfortable but sporty for an everyday commuter (well everyday I'm not driving the Vette). They're not exactly cheap though.

also...."My dad bought the car brand new and its family to us".....in other words you got it for free. i wouldn't cry about spending $5k on an LT1 corvette. somehow i ain't feelin' compassion here.

Not to mention, most of the issues you've had w/ the car (as of late) have come from not doing your homework 1st. ie: gears, flywheel etc...
