A friend of mine has a corvette challenge apparently it was the president of GM canada car before he bought it.
The emblems say corvette challenge and it has a 6 speed trans.
How rare is this car ?
If anybody has any info on it that would be great.
I guess its a very rare car it was never a race car, but now its in very rough shape.
Its been parked on a driveway under a car cover for at least the last 8yrs.
Trying to figure out how much its worth in the shape its in.

This 89 Challenge car was in the C4's For Sale section a few months ago and the asking price was $50K.
The #44 car is shown in the showyourcorvette link for 1989 ( here ) but the one for sale appears to have been restored to the "as delivered" condition.
I own a 89 6 spd coupe. Before I bought this car I had never heard of the challenge series corvettes. At several shows I have since attended I have been asked several times if my car was a corvette challenge car. I was not sure why this question kept popping up, it did not have a roll cage, Z51 suspension, so I tried to get as much info as possible on them as possible.( not a easy task) checked the black book, asked at the mueseum..... Still I did not know why anybody would suspect my 89 was a challenge car.
The last time I was asked this question, I asked the person why would you think that it was? His response was that he heard there were challenge test "mules" that were ran on the street that were produced around the same time. I forget the number he said, 5 or 6. My vin number was not far off from the challenge series vins. He had a sheet of the actual challenge series vins.
I have asked several more people "in the know" about this. The mule story keeps popping up. They were suppose to have a number decal on the front or back glass. I do not believe my car was a series car or a "mule" although it sure seems like it has more horse power than the 245 rated by GM.
On my build sheet it does state that this vehicle is built for a specific person or event, but that is the only abnormality that I can spot.
Does anyone know if they had brake ducts on those cars? I am curious what was all done to them. I looked at the lap times in the above links and I have run my car faster then some of them but not as fast as the person that got first place. His time is my goal however.
Still I did not know why anybody would suspect my 89 was a challenge car.
Probably because it's an 89 6-speed car...most people don't correlate the 6-speed with the TPI from the factory...they think "Wow, must be a special model."
There is no doubt that this car is a challenge series car all the emblems are corvette challenge as well as the steering wheel one, it has stainless steel plates behind the rear wheels where the exhaust was to exit, the intake and runners came factory polished, the rear bumper is rounded from new when bought at the dealer , when the clutch was replaced it said for experimental use only on the friction disc in yellow marker paint.
I will try to get the vin # and some picture's of the car.
Hey I have no doubts that the car you are talking about is real. Since there was so few made and so well documented, it would be very hard to fake. I just added my two cents about my 89. Pics are always welcome.
