I've got a small list of problems with my '89 auto:
I've just had my engine rebuilt (due to hydrolock) and now it won't idle correctly. As soon as the car starts the speed of the motor will drastically change (loping). I've spent a few hours looking for a vacuum leak but not really found anything. Another, possibly related problem, is that whenever I accelerate at WOT the car will stall and then surge a little bit, and then stall again. I'm at my wits end....anybody got any suggestions?
To make matters worse, I'm pretty sure I have an oil leak somewhere.
I know I got screwed over by the shop that rebuilt it and I don't wanna bring it back there.
Throttle cable is good
Timing should be good....TPS is good....IAC is new
How do I do a vacuum leak check? I'm hearing some powerful sucking noise coming from around the air filter when it idles down.
Fuel pressure is fine too.
1. check throttle cable for binding
2. Check & Set Timing and TPS and IAC
3. Do Vacume leak check
4. Check Fuel pressure and injector ohm test

MAF: Thats the piece between the Air filter box and the TB, has a plug under that could be bad...
Get FSM or check your radiator for air lines and plugs... If you search the forum there are posts with pics on air routing and info... I use propane torch, gas out will cause engine to surge when you find the leak.
I've got a couple of codes....ECM and coolant sensor.
Can you be more specific on what you mean by "MAF sensor, I've done it before"?
First things first: if you pulled the codes, go thru diags to resolve the code issues, then work on the rest:
You said IAC was good, did you set it correctly?
