I need a picture, if someone has it that shows the gap between the carpeted dash area under the steering column and the center console / radio / HVAC area. Mine has a gap about 1/4 inch and the passenger side has no gap. Can I adjust this?
Sorry, I am not quite sure what you mean. But if you mean the area in my photo behind the steering wheel where the drivers carpeted panel above knees meets the center console then there is no gap - on either side. I don't have an image of the exact spot but I am sure you get what I mean, is that what you were talking about?
Yes. Your steering wheel is blocking what I am trying to describe. It is there the carpet meets the carpet, in front of the console trim plate. The material that the carpet is glued to sees to be soft, so can it be adjusted or moved so there is no gap.
Well, I suggest you try to adjust it as mine has no gap at all. I don't even have the carpet there any more, replaced it with thinner Alcantara and still no gap.
That is exactly what I was looking for. I just went out and adjusted, tugged, and massaged everything together. I noticed the problem after removing all of the panels below the steering column so I could get to the HVAC programmer. The panels align very closely to the picture, but there is still a little more gap right at the bottom edge of the panel.
After adjusting everything, I noticed that the hex screw at the bottom of the panel, does not have a screw in it and there is not a hole for one. Is this correct? If not, then this could be the rest of my problem.
There should be a hole there. I've removed mine several times and sometimes to get the screw started you have angle it. Don't tighten them all the way. Just slightly, until they are all started. Then snug them down.
