95' headlights keep going up
When I turn on the headlights in my 95' LT1 they make a grinding sound when they popup, this keeps going for about 5 seconds before it stops, does the same thing when I turn them off. Is there some kind of limit switch or do some gears need to be replaced.
How hard is this to do myself?

I just fixed my 94 head lights this morning. It took me two hours. See the attached link for instructions and where to buy the parts. BTW you only need the bushings. The gears are okay so donot buy the replacements.

I just finished mine a few days ago. I bougt the bushings on the online auction for $9 including shipping. It is a pretty easy job actually. It took me more than 2 hrs but still it is very rewarding. You take the whole headlight assembly out of the car which is surprisingly easy. There is an easy side and a bit more difficult side. On my 89 the passenger side was the easier one. When doing the more diffcult side you have to pull the cover of the motor itself off, but the pics show it coming all the way out. I recommend just pulling it out enough to get the gear off the shaft, less than 1/2 inch. That way you don't have to worry about motor parts flying over your garage. If you have any mechanical aptitude you can do it. Do them both, even if only one is causing trouble. Just my opinion
