This past weekend went out to the garage (dirt floor) and noticed the right front tire flat, rim digging into the sidewall. Brand new Coopers, I figured I could just jack it up and take the wheel and tire back to the service station and have them replace the tire. Jacking was easy, stand and all, but the lugnuts were too tight for this 140# guy to loosen. Not to worry I have an electric impact wrench at work and I will get it off today. Didn't work. All 5 did not budge. I will call the station tomorrow and tell them to get that tire and rim off the Vette while I watch, with a lug wrench and depending on the result, the replacement of all rotors. My FSM specs are 140 ft lbs and if I can't break that then I am really glad it didn't happen on the interstate. I was ready to recommend this place to anyone in New England because they like the car. Lets see what happens tomorrow.
I thought the lug torque setting was 100. That's what I use. The 8 lug wheels on my truck are 140 and that's a hell of a lot. Just a thought, but you could always try to borrow an air tank to fill the tire then drive the car to your mechanic.

Nice to see another 35th owner. I have #296. While you are at it, have them check the spare in the tray. I had to get into mine for the first time last summer. It was the first time the tray had ever been dropped. Nothing worse than trying to crack the nut on the bolt stem that holds the tray up in position, only to finally get it to released and find the tire flat. Its well worth the time to check the tire and lube the bolt and nut to keep it turning freely when and if you ever need it in the future.

Thanks for the heads - up but I already had the spare out to install my FlowMasters. I like to do my own work, as much as I can, but these lug nuts were definately too tight. Took an hour with a 24" breaker bar to loosen all 4 wheels. Save the wave and enjoy your 35th!!!
