I have an all stock 84 with 54,000mi. Its in very good condition. The paint is going bad. I have already decided to repaint the car and have been in the process of finding corvette specialists to return it to factory specs. There are other items on the car that need freshening up as well.
Since they have to rip the car apat to paint it I might as well have everything restored to new. I would like to have this car judged for Bloomington and NCRS.
I am currently in Iraq and will return around Dec 08. Trying to find a restoration shop on the internet has been hard. The ones I have found do not do anthing newer than 82 or have not responded to my e-mail. I would like to get this project started so the car is ready when I get home.
I would appriciate any suggestions on where to look. If it was close to Clarksville, TN it would be great but I will take the car anywhere. Dont think this car is a trailer queen. Its never been on a trailer and it never will be. I have owned it since new and would like to keep it that way.
The C4 is not a difficult car to refurbish. Door panels, seats and carpet are fairly easy to replace. If you will have the time, you can do the work yourself and save money.

The interior is in excelent condition. The only non-stock item instaled on this car is a alarm sytem with a keypad insite the center cosol by the seat ajusters.
There are some small cracks around the screws on the center consol and mouse got in the car a long time ago and chewed a hole in the carpet in the right rear corner.
The rear defrost is inop because the wires that conect to the window have broken.
I know that I could repair everything on the car myself (-paint) but I figure if the car has to be ripped apart might as well get it all back to factory spec.
I guess nobody is thinking about restoration on a C4 yet. What I am thinking is keeping this vette to original specs now because waiting much longer would cost more looking for parts. I know its bad enough already looking for parts for an 84. Any help in this area (restoration not parts) would be greatly appriciated.
At the least I need sombody that can paint this thing to factory specs.
What you want to do to yours, I am doing to my 85. Except, mine is not being made to stock. I am making mine better or as good as a new C6. Everything on the car is being redone and I do mean everything. One thing I need to tell you is that if you have someone else do the work, it's not cheap. If you knew what I spent, you'd faint or have a heart attack. But that high price is probably due to getting the best parts and sparing no expense. If you are really looking for someone to do the work and are aware of the expense involved, I can put you in touch with the person doing mine. I don't know if he can take on yours, but you can ask.
If you are really interested in an NCRS type of restoration, then the best thing to do is to contact the local chapter of NCRS and ask them about C4 judging criteria. The early C4's have been part of NCRS judging for a few years now and there are people who do show C4's at NCRS events and at Bloomington.
NCRS and Bloomington type of judging is very strict and they go over everything. Things like markings on bolt heads, correct hoses ,everywhere. the use of "authorized" aftermarket components, correct paint colors and how they are applied, and all sorts of other things.
