Corvette expert!
I just had the neighbor over to look at my Corvette. He stated he knew everything there was to know about Vettes. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Is that a 6 cyl?" After that, it went downhill. He said that it was an LT1....no a L98. "It has been repainted", he said. No, it is original paint. I asked if he had seen the display in this Vette. He said that he knew what it looked like because he knew Vettes. I asked him what kind of display it had for the intruments, again. I then turned it on so that he could see the LCD display. I think I will ask him to do a tune up for me....NOT!!!

Reminds me of the time I owned a BMW 2002Tii. I took it to a mechenic who "specialized in foreign car repair". The first thing he did was reach under the hood by the front grill looking for the hood release. (BMW hoods are hinged in the front, like Corvettes). I immediately got back in the car and looked for another mechanic.

also ask the expert if he could check your muffler bearings and top off the blinker fluid. Maybe you can take him on a snipe hut while you guys are having such a great time together! He may also be able to make jet fuel in his garage and to fab you up a nice super charger using your hvac blower fan!

life experience has convinced me that the best thing you can do when someone BS's in your presence is NOT to let it ride, but to let him know immediately that (1) he's wrong and (2) that you know he's full of sh*t.
If he's a pal, he will laugh it off. If he's anything else he'll be pissed at you but who cares.

and they back up their sayings with "a friend of a friend " and " i've done a lot of research for years " or any X factor .....
