I drive mine daily... got 213k miles to prove it... maintenance is no worse than any other car... brakes, tires, and eventually yes things will break... but to me it seems the more you drive them the better they run...

I have 165,000 and counting. No parking in the winter for me. I just replaced the original opti this past Saturday and believe it or not the original was still working but I figured it was just a matter of time so I went ahead changed it out. It does run a lot smoother now.
Mine is a daily driver and to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way. The car is just to darn fun not to drive. There's something about turning the key and hearing the car growl, that somehow makes a stressful and bad work day go away!!!
89 vert. 200,000 + miles. I drive it almost every day! I do all my own work, and it has been just like all my other chevys to maintain. Im a vette a holic. Love driving my vette
Have a 92 driver, use it all year round except when roads are too slick in winter. No unusal issues other than that damn opti. Have to pick it up tomorrow from garage. Had an upper radiator hose let go and it took the opti out. Car has 119k and runs great.

You've got that right,,,,I love getting in the car after a stressful day at work! My first winter with it though, and although I do drive it as often as possible, am doing and having some work done on it so it will be ready for spring! Can hardly wait! It has over 130,000 miles on it, so it has a few problems, but not anything major, just upkeep that needed to be done,,,ie weather stripping, and that is why I am not driving it at the present!
Another DD here. A bit sad to watch it go from a 5-footer to a 15-footer, but in the 3 years and 25K miles I've had it it has been 100% dependable with routine maintenance -- it also did a track day at Pocono and survived the abuse just fine.
C4's were designed and built to be driven daily and hard.
I use to DD mine but I ran into quite a few snags this year, didnt want to pay someone to fix it, so took a while to get it fixed. It now runs great but the heater core went out

what do you mean when you say "from a 5-footer to a 15-footer?"
Lousy in the snow. Potentially dangerous and not recommended by me. Be very careful in the wet also, but if you are cautious it's OK.
Ingress/egress problematic but overcomable. Roadsters have little significant storage.
Other than those considerations I'd agree its an acceptable daily driver, but much in the way a Toyota Camry is the car to take your date to the prom. It will work but not a first choice.
I drive mine a lot, but I still have a Probe GT for bad weather and when I need to carry more than 2 people and a shoebox. The Vette excells on long highway trips, and in the mountains of course.
but to me it seems the more you drive them the better they run...
all day every day.....1987......127,000 miles.......
Although it wouldn't be first choice to drive in the snow or on slick roads she does just fine as long as you understand her shortcomings.
Unfortunately, its not the vette drivers you have to worry about its all those SUV people who dont realize that being able to get going in the snow and able to stop on the snow are completely different things.
Last snow storm we had here in Columbus, Ohio I drove past probably 20 cars off the side of the road. Virtually all were either SUV, 4WD Pickups, or front wheel drive imports.
what do you mean when you say "from a 5-footer to a 15-footer?"
Usually that is in reference to how close you get before you notice defects (dings) in the paint. I use the dual criteria method, meaning 5 ft or 5 mph, or 15 ft and 15 mph.
