New Guy!!
Just bought my first Corvette, a 1992 LT1 6 speed coupe.
I have been a muscle car owner for many years and have had a Dodge Viper for about two years now.
Just wondering if there is any good advice you guys/gals could give to a first time C4 owner, am I in for any surprises?

Thanks in advance.

"any advice?"
Yes!
Never ever ever ever ever wash the engine compartment.
Buy the real FSM not a Chilton or Haynes.
Clean and lube the release cables for your hood latches with lithium grease.
Re-install the top on level ground.
Keep the trash out of your radiator.
One last thing; DRIVE IT! These are great cars. Welcome to the forum.
The reason for not washing the engine compartment is to not get the opti-spark wet. It is in the lower front passenger side engine compartment. Watch for the water pump seeping, as it is right in back of the opti. If you have to change the water pump, you might as well plan to do the opti also as most people get roughly 70-100K per opti.
92 is the first year for the reverse flow LT1 engine (as you probably already know). They are a hell of a lot of fun and still get 28+mpg on the highway which continues to amaze me!
Watch for lumbar pump failures and power seat track failures if yours is so equipped.
Learn how to pull codes so you can see what the computer is telling you what is wrong. If you have the slective ride control (FX3) option, learn who Captain Z CNC is, he rebuilds the plastic actuators with aluminum at about 1/3 of the price of a new actuator!
Post up some pics when you can because we all like to check out each others rides!

I will post some picks soon, right now the car is up on stands in the garage with the tranny torn out.
I bought the car with a bad clutch, the part of the throw out bearing that the pull arm pulls on was busted off.
I got a smokin deal on the car!!
When I get it put together I will put some pics up!!
Next question, do I put an aluminum flywheel in now that I have the car apart?
Any thoughts?

another tip or two:
learn how to use the bleeder screws to get trapped air out of the engine if you have a low coolant situation.
Factory fan setting is on at 227*F, expect it to get hot in city traffic and over 240*F is the danger point.
Check area between condenser and radiator for debris on a regular basis and suck the crud out when you see it (small opening on the shroud, pass side you can peer into the area and a shop vac home made wand will help suck out any junk).
Use dialectric grease to wipe down all the weatherstripping, rub it in lightly and wipe of all excess.
Check and change all fluids, belt, hoses unless you have a maintenance history.
Keep the ASR on until you get used to it.
Enjoy!!!!!!
