On the 1995 vette, was the Passive Keyless Entry System (PKE) standard or was it an option? The owners manual gives me the impression that it was standard. I recently purchased a 95 vette and the previous owner said it was an option, and thus no keychain transmitters.
Sorry to hijack the thread, is there a document r write up somewhere that details troubleshooting the PKE? I bought a new fob and it worked for two weeks then stopped. Now if i press the fob button it unlocks the passenger side door but not the drivers side.

The system is inactive, thus only the hatch & pass/side door.
Hold down the door button for 5 secs or so & you shud hear the locks cycle.
You can choose which door (s) will open when in the active mode by putting the ignition key in the ignition, donot turn on..hold down the door button to select the doors. Takes a little bit of foolin around to get the right sequence.
You turn the system on or off by holding down the door button till the locks cycle. That way if your working around the car it won't keep locking & unlocking.

Just for the heck of it I would look under the seat cushions..storage compartments in the doors & behind the pass/seat. Might just be a fob in there somewhere.

The FOB with mine was shot. I found one brand new still wraped up in plastic for my '96 on Ebay. $140.00 Works great!
FYI, You can purchase brand new fobs from GMPARTSDIRECT.I bought one for my 95 vert a month ago for $100.00. Some e-bay vendors insist the vert fobs are no longer being produced. Not true.
Thanks for the info. I went to the GMPARTS site but couldn't find the FOB transmitter. What system is it listen under, or what part number is it? Thanks
Enter the part # 88960923 at gmpartsdirect and the fob comes up. Also there is one on ebay at item # 160198770840, now bid at $52 NR. The ebay vulchers try to raise it up. Check the ones in gmpartsdirect 1st. The program instructions are in your Owners Manual and are very easy. Don't buy them from somebody. The gmpartsdirect one comes with the instructions in the package.

My 95 didn't come with the key fob either. I got mine through the stealership and the system works great. It chews through batteries though, but all in all, I like the way it operates. Turn the system off when at a car show or working around it. It'll drive you nuts.
Mike
sorry for the hijack here. my system seems to not work. I bought a fob and tried to program but it would not go into program mode. What should I look into or replace? Thanks
