I need new rubber on my rears. How wide can I go? I have the zr1 wheels. Stock replacement. Can I go 315 without rubbing?

11" wheels and 315/35s work just fine. 335/35s are too wide.

Most people run 315's, although I have seen pics of 335's that look fine. They stick out a little further than 315's, but not much. The main reason I don't have 335's is that they're like $400 per tire....which isn't for me. So yeah, whichever you want.

Are your rear wheels 11" wide or 9.5" wide? You can get ZR1 wheels in both sizes. If you have 9.5" wide, 275 is about the perfect size tire. If you have 11", 315's are the perfect size.

Yes, as long as you have the '96 Grand Sport offset on your 11"x17" wheels and not the ZR1 offset. That should be molded into the back of one of the spokes of the wheel. It will be 50 mm offset.

There some good photos here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1918400

335 is gonna take 15 minutes to warm up the flat spot from sittin' overnight. If they fit mine, and someone GAVE me some, I'd pass...

I've been running the 315s on the rear for several years now. I've used several different brands of tires and two different brands of wheels. I've had no problems at all with them.

I keep thinking I should try some 315s up front and some 335s in the rear just to see what it's like. I know that CCW makes wheels that can handle the 335 tires. I might have to add some GS rear flares to cover them though.

None of this is really necessary on the street though, but it sure is fun to play with. At the track I love the big rubber.

If you have the same size wheel all around (& if so, chances are they are 9.5's), then I'd recommend going w/ 285's on all 4 corners. That's the best tire size for those size wheels and will give you the meatiest look...if your rear wheels are wider than the fronts, then most likely you have 11" rears and 315's are the optimum tire size. Keep in mind, they do also sell aftermarket ZR1 wheels in 8.5's...so you could have 8.5's up front & 9.5's on the rear...if that's the case, you'd want to stick w/ the stock tire sizes which are 255/45/17 front & 285/40/17 rear.

Bottom line, figure what what size/s you have & go from there and, whatever you do, DO NOT put 315's on a 9.5" wheel.

I'm running 315's on mine, but in 18" wheels....if I had to do it again, I would go with 17" to avoid teh
extremely high cost....

Anyway, they fit very well....look right a t home on my 89 Coupe.

17's are much cheaper to buy nice tires for! Once you go 18's, prices go up!
