Default 93 40th Anniversary Value

I'm going to be looking at a 93 40th anniversary vert tomorrow to go along wth my 81. I don't know as much about C4's as I should so I need your opinions. This car has 68K miles, paint and are supposed to be mint with no mechanical flaws and it would help to have some idea of what these are realistically selling for, especially this time of year before I go drive the car tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated.

I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them as well.

Thanks from a C3 guy.

One important question: is it a ruby (triple maroon) or just a regular 93? - everything built in 93 is technically a 40th anny. car but only the rubies have the anniversary rpo, etc.)

If it has been very well maintained (documented, few owners, etc.) I'd guess a really nice 93 ruby vert with 68k would go for somewhere around $13-15k.

The rubies definitely have a following - you'll pay a small premium for the rpo. Also, does it have the auxilliary hardtop? That'll increase the vlaue as well.

If it's a 'regular' 93 I'd knock $1000-1500 off that. My Dad has a 93 ruby vert with only 5k original miles (bought it a year ago). Beautiful car - gotta love that maroon!

Just my $.02 Good luck - keep us informed!

Nice not having to bother with all the birdcage and other rust issues like C3s.

This is worth a read before you dive in. Good Luck!

Don't need to worry, the 81 is not going anywhere! The 93 and 81 will make a good looking pair though......................

Default Ruby Reds are great

Ruby Reds are great

My wife convinced me we needed one and we bought one on ebay last August with a few less miles but also in great shape.

I checked Kelly Blue Book, NADA and Edmonson online to get a sense of what was a good price and bid/negotiated accordingly. We are happy and I think I got a good deal.

Good luck!

There was one on ebay that was up to at least $19k. I'm not sure what it went for. Here is the thread.

You need to use NADA as a guide on a well cared for car. KBB is low ball and so are most people who frequent this site. Don't pay more than NADA private party. On the other side, a lot of people who own run of the mill Ruby's think they are collectors status cars. They are not!

Even though it looked to sell at that price, the same seller has it up for bid again and the bidding is at 9k.

When I bought my Ruby in '05 I called around to credit unions and banks to see what they would loan out to buy one. One credit union would go as high as $20,000.00. I paid $13,000.00. Some paint work blended into the drivers front wheel lip, 60,000 miles. What I would call normal wear on a 93.
Forgot: Auto, Coupe, 1 Painted Top, everything except Tire pressure and heavy suspension and it's NOT a ZR1. Everything worked except CD and power door locks. Dr. Don fixed the CD and I rewired the PDLs(Old NON-factory alarm hacked into wiring)

Here are some pictures of the Ruby Red I am looking at. It is a true RPO# Z25 car but does NOT have the hardtop. The car is in great shape, has 67,413 miles and everything works. The car runs out great and I can't find any major flaws. It is NOT a ZR1 car either. I could use some thoughts on value. My contact has a few vettes for sale as you can see and when sales are down he liquidates some inventory, and I have asked him to keep an eye out for one of these for me. I trust him as he located my 81.

I would be interested in your opinons on value,

Thanks

Average retail from NADA is $21,500. I would not pay one dime more. Low retail is $14,800 so let's see how much you can trust him!

I can see from the pic that the car does not have the FX3, no BFD. It looks like the rims are polished or chromed? And it looks like the rims are mounted with one reversed?
It is hard to put a value on a car, any car. If you really want it and this is the only one you have found, buy it or loose it.
There is a thread about value were a forum member uses all the book values to calculate the top dollar he is willing to spend. He has been looking for 3 years and has not found the perfect car for him. Just remember, the day after you buy it you WILL find a better deal on a better car, Murphy's Law.

It' hard to tell for sure from the picture but it looks like to top of the driver door panel is starting to work its way loose. There are ways to fix them but replacements are almost $1000 if it needs both. Could al least get a few dollars off the price by pointing that out.

it's an automatic which is popular. If it was a Ruby Vert with a 6 speed, it would go around that price. However, the car for the mileage, looks to be in great shape and well taken care of. Weatherstripping looks a bit dried out and the ragtop might need to be replaced.

Also, those aren't the original wheels. If they are, someone chromed them.

Thanks everyone, your comments are appreciated. I've seen these selling anywhere from $11k to $19K (very low miles), even saw one at $7,500 but it needed body work. I think he'll let it go around $12K so that's where I think I'll start. Too low, high?
