Nitrous is a big bang for your buck. I would do a new torque convertor with the 3:73's. I know you said that installation was too high for gears, but this will be a pretty big bang

Gears, just do the install yourself. You can buy rebuilt diffs with the gears you want, for about $1000. Install them yourself and save a few hundred bucks. Nitrous is a good choice too.
