Got my new tires/wheels on wednesday and proceeded to put them on the car this morning. I noted one of the tires had zero air pressure, so I threw about 25 lbs in it. 30 minutes later, I had about about 1/2 inch of sidewall showing.
Turns out the wheel is defective...has a hole in the casting. I read AFS wheels website where they talk about their quality checks they put these things through. Must have been an airline security worker that checked mine.
Oh well, what was the number for UPS again? {sigh}
I bought them directly from AFS wheels. They have a good reputation, so I'm not anticipating any problems...other than the hassle of packaging it up and shipping. Plus not being able to drive in this incredibly unseasonal weather we are having today.
Well...if ANYONE would make it good...it'd be the manufacturer! Just a PITA's all.
And i know what ya mean about the weather! AIN"T THIS GREAT????? December 1st and in the mid 60s! I LOVE IT!!!
Damn, that sucks big time  Like someone else said at least it happened at home and not away from home. BTW your car looks awesome with the GS stripes.
Ed,
Where those wheels brand new? Or were you kust putting new tires on the wheels?
Hope it works out for you!
Yep, as new as your unborn child. I got a tire/wheel package thru AFS. By the way, I've been wanting to ask, so I may as well now...What kind of rocker panels are those on your ZR1? I don't think I've seen any like that before.

Thanks! I'm just beginning a sequence of mods that are going to really make the old gal look and sound different, as well as run like a scalded dog.

The rocker panels are from a company called 49th street. 49th street made the rocker panels, but have shut down there business a few years ago. DRM sold them too, but I was told that they got the rocker panels from 49th street. So when 49th street closed the doors DRM, didn't get any more rocker panels.
But thanks, I really like them too. I am going to take them off this winter and clean them up. A few stone chips from racing, but nothing major.
See ya.
Ed
Be sure to ask them to provide their UPS account number. I would hope they would also cover shipping since it is their error.
Yes, logic would dictate...but therein lies the problem. :D Actually, after all I have heard about them, I fully expect this will be made good.
This is from their website:
The quality control program includes such steps as x-rays and pressurized immersion. All of our rims have passed or exceeded required safety testing and are DOT approved.
Obviously, they do not check 100% of the product. No way would this one have passed those tests

Re: Well Crap (JJB)
It looks like someone has tried to 'clean it up'. Makes you kinda wonder about quality control in some places. Don't forget to check for roundness.
Nat, I got the polished ZR1 5 spokes. 315's on the rear and 275's on the front.
Excellent choice!
By the way, you stole my Power Effects. I had emailed that guy and you sniped me.
When I went to pick up the PE, he told me he had it listed for sale on the forum this past June. I can't believe no one snatched it up then. Guess I just got lucky!
