Default Opinion's Please.

There's a outside chance I can buy the vette I wanted ( not the one I settled on ). It's an "88" - triple black - stick
The problem is --- the Wifey tells me to sell the one I have first
I hate it when shes right
Soooooo -- whats a "84" coupe, auto ( B & M shifty kit & trans cooler ), 1/2 bald tires, flowmaster 40's, fresh paint, "91" tail, window tint and a almost totaly trashed tan interior worth ?
Kelly Blue Book dosn't even go back that far

"How much ?" I just needs an idea

From your post it seems you don't need the money from the 84 to buy the 88, your wife just doesn't want two Vettes in the garage. (Probably figures, correctly, that her car will wind up out on the street). If that's the case put a price of $2500 on the 84.

If you want the '88 that badly and your not depending on the money you get out of the '84 to buy it, then just sell it for cheap. I would put it up for $4000 and take any reasonable offer.

From your discription of it I would guess $2500 to $4000. Maybe you could get more depending on where you sell it or who you sell it to. It might be better to buy the 88 if you dont need the money from the 84 to do it and sell off the parts. Good luck.

This is what nada.com says, but they're insane.

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.as...&z=21703&da=-1

My guess would be around $4k.

You will love the '88 in many ways over an '84. As similar as they are, there were many refinements over that 4 year period.

Is it a Z51 or 52 I hope? 17" wheel option?

Keep us posted. Great time of year to be buying!

The clock shows 79,000 - but probably closer to 100,000

Her jeep is always in the driveway. Da vette is kept behind the house on a concrete slab, under an awning and a security camera - never - never in the street ( the neighbor's animals ( offspring ) Suck )

4 grand sounds about right . Shes heard about my younger days - with 2 or 3 cars in various stages of dis-assembly ( the neighbor's loved me -- not the current ones )
Yes - 17" wheels and Z-51

But the main reason I wants the "88" its a stick - like I always say --

"Driving a automatic vette - is like kissing your in the dark. It feels good til the lights go on -- then you know its just wrong"

oooo your '84 has Z51? Screw the '88. I'd just drop a stick into the '84 and you've got a perfect track car.

In the spring maybe $4K, but this time of year $2.5K. Plus the used car market really sucks right now.

Not a good time to sell a Corvette. I just sold my 92 and it took a month to do so even after dropping the price. I'd say, put $3900 OBO on it and see if anyone bites. For some reason, it's only $100 away from $4000.....but you will get more interest.

Naaaa - "84" is a Z-52 And I really - really want a vert
I always keep "The eye pealed" for a 4 + 2, bell housing - Ect. -- I would even settle for a M-22 if I could make it fit

It's just one of those things - I owned an MGA a long time ago. Fantastic little car ( for what it was ), If it was a auto ( if someone shoe horned it in ), different car ,now weld a top on it -- Volvo

The Vert is a different car. I love mine, and the coupes just didn't do it for me. If you didn't do it already, drive one. Then you'll be sure.

Also, I have an auto as well as some pretty hot cousins...

$7,095 to $18,380 ??????

And why is there a 10% premium for factory air?? A/C has been standard on Corvettes since 1980.

Buy the 88, sell the 84 for $2,500 - $4,000 and use the money from the 84 to mod or fix up the 88. That's what I'd do.

currently the worst time to sell -- winter,post-holidays, depression (economic) talk everywhere, etc,etc -- use those factors to buy ''your dream'' for cheap $...hang onto the ''old'' one till may/june when buyers WILL come out of hiding, you must choose between low/quick sale or high/wait.

You might not want to take advice from me, but I "was" in the same situation as you, I had (still have) an 86 and found a 95 that I wanted. The responsible part of me said "wait till spring, sell the 86 and then find a car, there are plenty more" the other (much bigger) part of me said the hell with it, buy the 95, you will find a buyer in the spring for the 86.

Well now I own an 86 and a 95, I haven't seriously started to advertise the 86, I need to finish putting carpet in it and by the end of feburary, beginning of March I will get serious about it. Part of me will feel better when it is sold and finances get restored, but I am realistic about what it will sell for and confident that when the warm weather gets here a happy new vette buyer will come along and I will again own one vette.

Wow. I thought the NADA books were written by sensible people. Holy crap man! California or Florida is about the only place you'd ever EVER sell a 84 for that much!! Theres gotta be something up with these numbers.
