Default Front Nose emblem

I just bought a new set of front and rear emblems for my 1996 and the front dose not have 2 sided tape on it but the rear dose. When my I bought a Set for my 1986 they both had tape on them. So my question is should they both have the tape on them?

Thanks

When I removed the emblems from my '96, the front one didn't have any tape on it, so I assume it came that way from the factory.

Default emblems

changed mine on my 84 both had pins and nuts to hold them on however the gas emblem was plastic and had a sealer on it I think this was GM'S way of sealing the gas door emblem so it would not leak water into the gas door so the rear on on yours was most likely just a stick on to get rid of the holes in the gas door altogether , that may not stop all of the water from getting into the gas door , but I will bet it helps , I beleive you have the right ones and this is the reason they do not match the front one . I had two-sided tape and nuts on my 96...was a PITA to remove the left-over glue and material.

You want to get the right nuts for these. The nut is called a speed nut or pal nut. This nut is one of those stamped thin looking nuts.I tried using the stock nuts that came off the original emblem on the plastic stud and it broke off.

You need to get different hardware at ACE. If you try the old one the studs WILL snap off. I just used the doublesided tape it works well.

I bought some new emblems recently but haven't put them on yet. I believe they both came with the tape installed. I'm going to remove the tape - I take my emblems off whenever I wax the car, so the tape would just cause me problems anyway.
