I have 3 air cleaner lids, the one with the 2 cylinders up front that suck air from the sides, a louvered one like they used on the ZR-1s and an open lid. I decided to buy the aftermarket open lid rather than cutting one of the others. It looks cleaner. I have not noticed any difference in power between the 3.

I bought an extra lid for 20 bucks at Carlisle. Cut the louvers out- a small diff in sound, but no SOTP changes. If I drove it in the rain, I'd be putting the stock cover back on. But, probably like myself, you gotta try it for yourself to believe there is no SOTP power increase

I too have done it to a couple VETTES and finally realized it was a waste of time and money
