its an automatic -- that's one major hit in my book, and would take it out of the picture altogether.
plus big time miles on it, that's another slam on it. not good.
price seems right. santa clara, ca -- isn't that a big shot's place to live? the median price of a home there is $627k. for the rest of ca, it's $477k. that's a $150k difference -- which by the way is the entire price of an average home in my area. a lowly C4 doesn't belong there, so location is just another slam on it altogether.
most of the people there are in their 30's/40's. young town, college town. they've got their parent's money, probably buying new ferraris, not old chevy's.

Gas will be $4/gal this summer. Seems to me, we are on the edge of another chapter like in the 1970s when cars lost their appeal, and people focused in the utilitarian aspect.
As is normal for me, I'm out of step with most people. I just got my C4 a year ago, and have no plans to sell it.

no worries, dale. you should have many years to enjoy it. myself, i'm an "anti status-quo" type as well. if the crowd swells, i run. if its a consensus, i divide it

Probably right, earth tones are coming back.
He must have heard we are going to be out of oil next year. Smart guy
I dunno about you guys but even if we do have a crunc Im doing everything I can to hang onto mine. paid for/good mileage=cheaper than buying some used up POS econobox you hate that still will need work to get a few MPG more

Looks like he would consider a trade for a diesel truck or RV. Can't be too worried about gas prices.
If the car has been maintained (as he says) and the driving was a lot of freeway miles, 140K may not be that bad. That's only 10K miles per year for a 94.
Where does it say it's an automatic? No mention of tranny type on the ad in the link.
During the Carter era we could buy big block Corvettes for $1,500. During that first gas crisis people panicked an sold off their big block cars.
Then stupid people like me said the car thing was over. I never bought a big block car because I thought no one would ever want them. Right.
This may be one of the great buying opportunities of the last few decades. Today's junk is tomorrow's treasure. Hell, I remember when we let the C2 cars into NCRS and everyone got all upset because they weren't real Corvettes.
Check you home equity loan balance and get ready. We may be on the edge of a tremendous Corvette sale.
You gotta love california. No value to a dollar. If you arent scared of work then there is no C4 vette that is junk(unless its just horribly abused). Also nothing wrong with the 4L60E trans. Had one in a camaro with manual valve body eating up vettes on the highway. But 7k for a car with 140k miles?! Wow. I agree with you guys about the next 1975 coming up. I have a friend that scored an 85 jeep grand wagoneer with 35k miles for 500 bucks because no one in cali will buy it (10mpg)! I'm so jealous.
Did any of you notice that rfn026 is actually Richard Newton, the author of the books in the links?....that would be my guess anyway. If you are , great books. I have the 101 projects for the C4 & the C5 performance projects book too.
