I started installing my new AFS wheel & tire package last night. I only got the driver's side finished as I ran out of time.
My question is I noticed when I lowered the car that there is a larger "gap" between the top of the tire and the bottom of the wheel well opening than with the original tires & wheels; is that normal, will it "settle" back?
I went back with 17" wheels. The only change I made was to put 9.5" on the front and 11" on the back.
Yes, it will settle. Anytime you jack the car up, you take weight off the spring. The Corvette transverse leaf spring will keep the car up a little higher when you lower it back down. But as soon as you drive it, it will settle back to normal.
Also, you didn't mention the actual size tire you went with.
So, if you put a smaller diameter tire on there than what you had you will have a little more gap.
I was stooopid and left my car on the hoist with the wheels hanging for about 3 weeks and now I have a bigger gap that has to settle in. it seems as though these springs have a memory effect.
