It's albout the numbers. Cost of insurance, value of car(determined by insurance company), pain threshold of total loss with or without comp or coll insurance. There is no right of wrong. Insurance is just a different form of gambling, betting on loss vs no loss. It's a numbers game. There are a lot of Vettes out there, who's will get wrecked next? Once you know all the forementioned data it's a fairly simple choice. So what's "your pleasure?" Risk or no risk??
i can afford full coverage but why???? like i SAID you might as well have collision insur on a 1980 escort your gona get the same payout!!!!!!
Couldn't be further from the truth. A full payout on an 80 Escort is probably about $500. A full payout on an 80's Corvette will be at least $12,000. I guarantee that all of us here on the Forum that have our cars insured with a classic car company (and 99.9% of us do), have at least $12,000 in coverage and that's what will be paid out with a total loss. Like I said, if you'd rather keep minimum insurance and take the risk of losing your home or everything you own, then go ahead and keep little or minimum insurance. I'm not taking that risk.

you have ignored the point I raised.... that being if I use my vette as a daily driver and am in an accident, the insurance company is NOT going to cut me a check for 12k..... they are more than likely gonna total out the car and give me 2-4k if I am lucky.... address the issue of a daily driven vette and full coverage insurance.... and please don't say "you shouldn't drive it daily."
I don't think everyone here has insured their car as a classic with a classic car insurer.... I have not as I drive it all the time....

I can't help it if you cannot comprehend what I am trying to impart. I don't know where you're going for insurance, but 99.9% of Forum members are paying a few hundred a year for insurance. If you want to pay $2,400 a year when you could be paying a few hundred, knock yourself out. If you take the time to do a little research, you'll find there are many companies that will insure your car for a few hundred a year, for full coverage. But if you'd rather pay $2,400, go for it.
I got quotes from Progressive, American Family, Geico, and State Farm - all of which were about the same price. I went with Progressive since it was cheaper to insure both my Jeep (daily driver) and Corvette with them. If you know of some magic place where insurance companies give away policies I'm all ears.
So which insurance company do you work for anyway? Sure sounds like you have a vested interest in getting everybody to have full coverage insurance. Why do you care?
