6 speed replacement
I found the steps and procedures in the Helm's manual to be excellent. One suggestion would be to buy the "beam plates" made by Bill B. at ZFdoc.com.
When you get to the point of actually changing the transmission, PM me and I'll walk ya thru it. I wouldn't say it was a piece o' cake, but it is quite doable by an individual. My biggest headache was running to town after all the tools, etc.

I took out my 4+3 manual tranny, and installed a Keisler TKO 500 5 speed manual tranny.
It was more difficult than replacing the tranny in a old muscle car, but doable.
I did it on jack stands; in my front yard, with odds and ends for hand tools, I have collected over the years.
You will be fine as long as you have the "want" to do it.
It may take longer than you like. I hope you have another vehicle to drive while you do the swap.
