my 94 vert had a cam-rockers and shorties as well as the manifold coolent bypassed when i got it--i havent got to drive it much(tooo much snow)
so today was nice and i took it for a spin and WOW THIS CAR ROCKS if you punch it it will burn rubber through 2nd gear and if your just cruising at around 30mph and hit it it jumps into 1st BUT HOLD ON WHEN YOU HIT 2ND the car goes sidways and is almost controlable
its a auto WHAT did the guy i got it from do??? i think it has a shift kit but how do you tell??? this is my 2nd 94 and my 1st one was stk and wouldent even spin the tires without brake torking (what a difference)

Sounds like your first one may have had a bad clutch. When my '95 was near stock I could spin the tires in first, second and get a nice chirp in third.

If you 'punch it' and front tires come off the ground then it has probably had a few meaningful mods. Otherwise sounds about stock to me. Enjoy it!

You're in Michigan, it's February.....

roads are slippery (salt, sand), tires are cold (my michelins wouldn't grip worth a *&%t below 50*) And that cold air is making that LT1 feel expecially frisky

I'm running summer tires, and this time of the year they never get to a good gripping tempature. Its very easy to spin the tires now. Even in the summer, it will smoke first, little less in second, and chirping third. I agree with jonnymac, your first vette had some problem.

I know with my auto it hits 2nd gear like a ton of bricks. I am the third owner and the tranny is completly stock. Mine does one of three things when I'm on it hard, it'll either hook up, chirp or throw the car sideways. I prefer sticks but this is one hell of an automatic for stock. I hope you get some warmer weather soon to get to really enjoy it.

I dont have many mods done to mine (heads and exhaust) and it wont grip at all in first gear, spins a little in second too. I have a cam to put in but i'm debating that since it already feels like its got plenty of power for me.

If it has a cam you sure would be making more power than a stock LT1. The shorty headers may give you a slight improvement over stock, but you would reallybe better off with long tubes, and since you dont have the cats..why not? Depending on the cam, 330hp to 350hp sounds reasonable. Take it to a track and get some time slips or git 'er done on a dyno....That way you can have a better idea of the power she's making. All in all, sound like you are going to enjoy it...have fun.
