New/rebuilt/repaired - you pull a vacuum and that will pull the first pound in. If it's low, clear any codes ('90 up) by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, then (for any Year) jumper the low pressure switch harness with a paperclip which will keep it running while you're charging. For any Year, make sure the fan(s) is/are running - charge until the high side is to 2.2 to 2.5 times the ambient temp at the condensor.
