targa top.
this is going to seem like a stupid question but its my first time taking off targa top. going to try it tomorrow. i just wanted to make sure. does the front go in first, or does it go backward in first.
If you have an owner's manual, it will explain the process in detail. If you don't have one, one of these PDF's will work (process for the targa should be about the same for all years):

If the thought hadn't occurred to you yet...
That thing gets really HOT in the summer sun.
I keep a set of light-weight leather gloves in the console for removing the Targa when it's hot enough to burn you.
Plenty of them have been dropped!

If you haven't looked in the Operators' Manual or at the site mentioned above you should have by now. The back of the top (the sort of square corners) go into the holders inside the car first. The front part of the top, with the curved side down then goes to the rear. There is a hole in the top that the top holding plastic pin goes into to hold the top down before you shut the rear hatch.

Position the rear into place first when reinstalling, but do the front bolts first when tightening up.
The rear bolts act like tensioners, take them out first, install them last.
