Default Disabling PKE light

I don't have the key fob and dont ever care to use PKE. For 3 months no lights were on in the driver info area (except ASR off, of course), but while driving home the other day the PKE light came on and won't go off. I can temporarily turn it off while car engine is off by sticking key in ignition again and removing it, but it is always on while driving now. I tried pulling the PKE fuse but the light stays on. I just dont want to have to look at the light, so how can i disable it?

What year is your car? I am in the same situation as you are as I don't have a key fob!

I pulled the PKE fuse and the light went off. That is the only way I know how (at least it worked on a 96).

Disconnect the neg batter cable for 5 min then reconnect. Your ECM is throwing a code for some reason. This should clear it. You might go ahead and remove the fuse while battery is disconnected.

Thanks.
I'll give that a try as soon as it quits raining.

Stupid rain spoils all my driving fun.

Easy fix. Pull the PKE fuse. One of the first things I did on my '93.

The light probably doesn't come on because the PKE is not activited. The way we know if PKE is on is if the light comes on or not when we turn the ignition to the on position. Do a search in this forum and you will find out how to program the fob. Or you can take it to a dealer and they can do it for you, probably won't caost too much.

How to set up a fob with PKE is also in the owners manual for your car.

We have tried to trace the problem, but so far no luck, have looked in the manual, and all systems seem go, so may be a wire disconnected somewhere. The key is hard to turn in the lock sometimes, so wanted to get the keyless entry hooked up.
Oh well, will continue the quest til we get it figured out!
