The finish on my console around the shifter and radio is scratched and in various places it is scratched to the shiny plastic.
Has anyone come up with a cool way to repair this other than replacing the console plastic (maybe aftermarket?) or buying a kit that looks like wood or carbon fiber? Those don't seem to cover all the original plastic.
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
Some members have installed carbon fiber finish which I believe sticks on top of various dash and console panels. It looks the best of the press on interior kits in my opinion but I'm not a big fan of them. It is possible to strip the rubber finish with acetone and spray paint the console yourself. I tried that approach first but the plastic primer I applied damaged the plastic finish beyond repair and I eventually ended up buying a new aftermarket plate for around $150. Refinishing it yourself is a lot of work for one plastic piece, based on my experience with the whole thing I would recommend just buying an aftermarket one to save yourself the time.

It is not that hard to refinish your console, no matter what year/color it is. Search the forum for tips on how to do it, if you cannot find what you need, let us know, we will help you.
