Default AC Delco shocks

Saw an ad for AC Delco premium gas charged shocks for an early C4. Anyone ever use them? How do they compare to KYBs or Bilstiens?

I may be wrong about this.....but didn't Bilstien make the non-adjustable shocks for the C4's anyway???

I could buy Bilstiens, but I'm not a racer. I think KYBs give a bit softer ride without trashing performance.
That's for me.

I should learn how to type and think at the same time!

What I was thinking and trying to type at the same time was didn't Bilstien make all the OEM shocks for the C4's....maybe I'm wrong.

I would think that the ride is more a function of our leaf springs rather than the shocks....our springs are way stiff and I doubt that different shocks could help the ride quality in a C4...JMHO.

Oh, I don't think there will be a huge difference in ride. It's not like it's going to start riding like a CTS with KYBs!
I have no idea if the Delco shocks are Bilstiens. If they are, that's a heck of a deal.

Tom

I know the front in my 91' are yellow with a Bilstien label on them. They are beat up enough to be original

The ones I saw, were listed as new, and all black.

From what I know: The originals are yellow Bilsiens, with an "AC Delco" label on them.
The aftermarket Bilstiens do not have the AC Delco label.

The Delco shocks are Delco shocks. Bilstein doesn't make them. Delcos are not NEAR the shock Bilstein is.

Correct, the Black Delco shocks are junk and never were o.e. on a Corvette. They are cheap for a reason

My 95 has yellow Bilstein with AC Delco lables on them also. I bought a set of Bilstein from MidAmerica for $299.99. That's almost $300.00, but hay, they are yellow and not black. I would never put black shocks on a red Corvette

Dale, I don't know if this chart will be of any use:o ....but it has specific shock info for C4's.

http://www.zr1netregistry.com/ZR1_suspension.htm

maybe you can use it to figure out which shocks came as OEM on your C4.

My 95 had Bilsteins which were the original factory shocks.
