I hope I'm not posting in wrong forum so here goes: I am seriously considering purchasing a 4 corner lift and after searching on the forum I need two questions answered. 1) My choice would be between superlift or bendpak, which would be best? (primary use is for storage with some work being done on car on lift, mainly minor stuff like oil changes etc) 2) I have read a few threads about companies that deliver to house and will install. Who are these companies? Thanks in advance.
I just got mine and installed it this weekend. I bought mine from GregSmithEquipment.com I bought a Direct Lift Pro-Park 8s 8000# capacity. I put it together myself in about 8 hours (would have been quicker if I had read the directions better....don't ask ). Here's a picture of the finished project.
Did you have it delivered to your house or did you have to pick it up from a shipping location? How many people did you have with you to help in the install? Looks good.

Well first off I live in a small town (pop 2500), I had it delivered to the school where I teach, as our maintenance dept has a fork lift. So we unloaded it from the truck and the maintenance guy just brought it down to my house on the fork lift and set it in my drive.
As far as help....I did it all myself (with a little, note here, very small amount of help from my wife), all I had was a Cherry picker (shop crane), my two floor jacks and several blocks of 2 x 6's. I had the wife help me stand up the two ends (two posts and cross pieces) and help me run/start the long threaded rods for the lock mechanism. Would a couple of guys be an advantage? Oh you bet, it would reduce the assembly time down to about 4 hours. I highly recommend having a "party" and get a few guys over to give you a hand.

I had mine delivered and installed about two weeks ago by Teclift out of Attleboro, Ma. Probably too far way for you. The Bendpak and Superlift are likely made by the same supplier and re-badged. Most of the 4 post lifts are similar in construction and safe, notwithstanding Backyard Buddy's ads. Most of the problems are operator errors. You will love it and wish you had done it sooner. Get a jacking bridge that will allow you to do wheel work. I would find a local company that sells and installs them in the event that you have a problem. Alot of the major suppliers are great at selling and delivering but difficult to deal with when there is a problem.
I bought mine through "Autolifters" all USA made. They went out of business. Some of their employees started up a new one. Take a look at http://www.allamericanlifts.com/. Pretty much the same lifts. I've had mine for 4yrs now without one problem.I had it delivered and had to put it together.

I bought a Revolution lift from Rotary, It is the only lift rated for work duty, and is 100% American steel and built in America No China steel or China built. I think the Backyard Buddy is U.S. made as well.
I am in the market for one also, and a friend pointed something out to me...all the pictures that you see of crushed cars none of them have the feet attached to the floor. This top heavy situation can be cause for the failures.
I spoke to the Jason at Backyard buddy he does have a well rehearsed version of how he can justify the extra $2800 in cost but i dont buy it. American steel sounds wonderful but there is no way you can guarantee or for that matter get true "American Steel" it all comes from off shore, especially tubes and shapes. My friend has three China / Taiwan or whomever lifts, he bolts them to the floor and has Hemi Cuda's under them. He sleeps real well because he has not had any issues and although he has $300K under them "China" lifts, he has had no problem. Just my opinion
I looked at a bunch of these before I bought mine and the only one I felt comfortable with was the Backyard Buddy.
Many of these lifts have "formed" columns with welded tabs which in my opinion is a poor design.
The Backyard Buddy columns are not formed, they are beam style with holes cut out for the lift fingers to lock into place.
It is one of the more expensive lifts but you get what you pay for right?
And it's completely made in the USA
I ended up talking directly to their president regarding a "perceived" problem I had and was VERY impressed, he stood behind his product.
I've had my BB since 01 and never had a problem with it. I wasn't too impressed with the other brands construction when doing research. Mine is not bolted down, and very stable all the way up with anything on it. I've had aprox 6500pnd on it and it was perfictly stable. I use it alot with side work and my own stuff. If we move and I build a bigger 4 car garage I will buy another BB.
I had mine delivered to my shop, and they unloaded it, then loaded it on a car trailer. 2 other guys helped put it together, took about 2-3 hours if that. I read where someone paid $600 to have it delivered and set up on the forum. Easy money for them.

I got the Bend Pak HD9 and have been extremely happy with it. It was delivered to a local shipping yard where I had to pick it up. The lift was put together by myself and a buddy. Not to difficult but the directions can use some improvement.

Not sure exactly where that is , however Greg Smith Equipment has a site in Delaware where you can play with the lifts and pick them there too. I got a 2 post 9000lb model and hauled it home on my F150. Unloaded it with a Cherry picker Piece by piece. If you can haul it you could possibly save some dough by going there ( no taxes as well)

Ditto, I change the oil in my XL Yukon and it works great, perfectly stable.
It may have been me that posted about delivery and set up - that's probably about what I paid but if I ever buy another one I'll definitely set it up myself. Once you see one put together it's easy (but their instructions are pretty lame I do have to say.)

I also bought my Pro Park from www.gregsmithequipment.com and have had no problems at all in two years of ownership. Me and 3 friends put it together in about 3 hours time and about 2 cases of cold ones!
I picked mine up at the depot. They loaded it on my trailer.I strapped it down. When i got home I took it off piece by piece. The only real heavy piece was the ramp with the hyd. ram under it.I used 2 floor jacks to manuver it around.
I love my lift $2600 installed. Adjustable locks so I can get the exact height I needed ceiling 109". Ordered from Greg Smith. Came with casters, drip trays and jack bar. I never touched it shipped right to the installer.
