Thanks folks for all your advice. I am the father for whom the C4 was bought.

You could always strip the car yourself and then take it to Maaco and have them shoot it for under a grand. Where shops like Maaco scrimp isn't on the paint, it's on the prep. But if you take it down to bare plastic and remove all the emblems, trim, mirrors, etc and take it all down to the body shop, you can get a nice daily driver quality paint job for a reasonable price. You will have already done the hard work.

BTW....stripping the car can be done in a couple of weekends if you work at it.....and would make a nice early Father's Day present....(hint hint).

BTW....here is my V8 Fiero painted at Maaco for $600.

I'm in San Diego. What shop did you go to?

***TOO MUCH***
you can get a riddler paint job for that kind of money (unless that's a frame off job) which I doubt you are looking for something that extreme...keep looking, as suggested ask guys in your area for people. you should be able to get a show car job for half that, and a nice DD job for a couple grand.
Good luck!

You get what you pay for. I would not prep and paint "any" car for less than the $10k mark.
