I'm replacing the window upper guide on the drivers side which was broken therefore window was out of alignment and raising too far. Everything was going very smoothly (I'm following a description posted on corvette fever), unitl I got to removing the bolt that holds the guide onto the window. The bolt has a thread locker and flat nut on the back side with 2 holes. I've tried the suggested 90 degree snap ring pliers to try and hold the flat nut from behind but I'm snapping off the snap ring points trying to hold it while I turn the bolt. Any suggestions short of sawing the bolt off?
Just use these snap ring plyers. Do not put any of the head on it, just the plyers part without the head. These are from Harbor Freight, PN ITEM 3316-0VGA now only $1.99 (www.harborfreight.com)
The large round pegs work great, almost like it was made for the job.
You beat me to it but you saved me from having to look it up.
Mine was stuck on there pretty good with the loctite. Thin vice grips and a socket was the only thing that would work for me. You definately may want to check out the whole thread though.
