Faded Clear Coat Solution?

Default Faded Clear Coat Solution?

My clear coat around the side view mirrors and at he rear by my trunk is severely faded. Any solutions? I want to use Zaino but i think i should deal with the clear coat issue first. Thanks

Whats Zaino?

Option 1. Machine buffing. If that doesnt work, option 2.

Option 2. Repaint areas affected with fading. DuPont cant make a dead on match to your paint if its the factory color.

Option 3 Repaint car.

Zaino is a car wax system. I don't have the funds right now to repaint it.

W/Randy...Wait til you can afford to do it right..Once the clear starts going not much you can do. THeres always sanding and reclearing but why bother on old paint

Default The car is black- much simpler

Hi-

If the car is black, just repaint and clear the areas where you are having the problem- it won't work well with other colors, because they won't match- but black is black. My Dad had an old MG roadster, with individual fenders, and he was constantly being hit in parking lots- but the car was black- and each repaint just blended right in- and this was before sophisticated blending machines like they have now-

Try it on a mirror- I think you will be pleasently surprised-

If your painter can match different shades of black AND match the"old finish" (thats tricky) Id be impressed, hard to do if the paint is worn. Usually the whole panel if nothing else needs to be reshot.

Repaint - mirrors can probably be handled with a rattle can (or if you have a compressor, a detail gun and a pint from your paint jobber) assuming you do some prep and I'd remove them and the glass (it's just pops off) before you start. You'll still need to wet sand and buff, but that shouldn't be difficult. Unfortuanately, though the rest of the car may look good, it's probably faded somewhat too and an exact match may be impossible. Whatever you do, don't start slopping Armor All or similar on anything.
