Corvette vs. Lightning
My fiancee and I are looking to purchase a high performance vehicle. Either a c4 @ 91-94 or a Ford SVT Lightning. She was raised in a 63 split window, I want to be able to haul my Ninja sportbike to the track. The decision making process is a stalemate so far. We've driven both and its hard to decide, they are both really fast. The Lightning had been lowered and had a beefed up suspension and held a 4 wheel drift very nice, I haven't been able to get a vette alone long enough to run through the same set of turns, but so far they feel rock solid. Help?

Well, we might be a little biased around here since this is a Chevrolet Corvette forum.
But get the vette. Ride your bike to the track and let your girlfriend drive the vette.

Definatly buy a Vette, a lightning is just a lightning( I sometimes can't tell the difference between an F150 and a Lightning), a Corvette is a CORVETTE!(no mistake about it)
The vette would get more attention, be faster (as long as not a 84) more then likely pull more in the skid(not sure since you said the lightning had beefed up suspension).

You guys are only slightly biased, eh? ;) It sounds like I may need to try some top speed handling tests. Ooops, I hope nobody from the CHP is watching this sight too closely. Either way, I think the Vette is going to win out due to the influential capacity of my female counterpart. All things considered the Corvette screams "classy" in ways that the Ford will never understand (original Cobra owners aside). Keep the feedback coming..Thanks.

I have a GMC Syclone and a Corvette. The Syclone is just as quick as my Corvette (faster 0-60, slower 60+, but approx the same 1/4 times) The diving position is upright, the handling and brakes are no comparison to my Corvette. Even if I did upgrade the brakes and handling, it is still just a truck. The corvette definately grabs a lot more attention.

Obviously, each has it's own purpose to each of you.(you and your girl) You really have to decide which will be more practical for both of you. You're going to get 99.999% Corvette votes here. Me being one of them. But it kind of sounds like your mind is already made up. You just needed to hear from a few Corvette enthusiasts that you're making the right decision. the truck may be almost as fast as the vette, but it wont become much faster without dropping alot of money. True with the vette too, but not to as great as an extent. Plus, the lighting wont ever handle like a good ole z51 c4, i dont care how much suspension work is done to it.
