Default Rough Idle

I have a 90 L98 and it runs rough at idle - doesn't cut off at least not yet but runs rough - it also never seems to warm up - I've only had a couple of weeks - has 80000 miles but I'm betting no thermostat - should I put in a 160 or 190 degree thermostat or not worry about - I'm down in Mobile so it will be plenty warm soon. But I'm wondering if this could be causing some of my idle problems. Also my owners manual says the car's compression ratio is 9.5 - I've seen the discussions on this before and am just pointing out what my owners manual says, not me.
Thanks

The first thing to check is the IAC. It could simply be dirty or it could be bad.

You have to run a 195 degree thermostat for the system to run correctly on a stock computer.
