I'm inclined to agree J. You can look through the Wheel Gallery here on CF and see them both ways. I think it's a manufactureing thing. All they are basicly for from what I understand is to help remove brake pad dust. And looks of coarse.

Yeah, I think it's more important that you have the vanes pointed in the proper direction.

Nothing to do with brake dust - the grooves are supposed to help aid the dissipation of gases when the pads are under extreme heat conditions, reducing the chances of brake fade. They also help 'cut' the surface of the pads removing any residues that get baked on under high heat.

The holes are also supposed to also help dissipate the gases, but the downside is you get a reduced surface area and possible weakening of the disk (cracks can form between them)

Then again some people just put em on for show
Looks very nice!

I knew someone would know the answer on here. Don't ya love it!

So as far as the grooves go you think it's a manufacture's choice there?

Thanks Eakster

I'd be in the show category. Not a tracker.

Default Proper slot direction.

ZumZum was correct....... if you're planning on giving your brakes hell. Hopefully the ones I have will be fine for a weekend car. Learn something new everyday!

My slots point the same way...and they were also marked left/right by the manufacturer.

Hmm... mine already has Corvette on the calipers in white letters on the front and rear of my 96CE.

Are these stock or did someone upgrade them before me?

That's weird cuz the CE's only came w/ lettered fronts...somebody had to have modded. Post a pic.

Ok ok... my mistake. Just went outside with the camera and realized you were right. It is only on the front. I could have sworn the rears had it too but they dont.

Was this just a CE thing??

Yup, CE's are special...does anyone know if the calipers are actually any different? As in better performing? I wouldn't think so, but you never know...

I have the CE calipers (front & rear) on mine as well...of course, I had to add them later as they are not standard on all '96's. I think one of the reasons they went w/ the lettered calipers was because of the open wheel design of the CE's which, unlike the sawblades, allowed for the calipers to actually be seen. Now, w/ the open wheels on most cars being standard, more attention seems to be given to the "looks" of the brakes.

FWIW, I've heard that the CE calipers (fronts only - the rears are the same on all 96's) offer a slight benefit over the stock J55's but I have no idea what that really implies.

Nice man! Thanks for the info!

How do you keep your car so clean? How many miles you have on it?

I clean my car regularly myself and i am very picky. I spend a few hours on it everytime i wash it. I even get under the car and scrub my exhaust and scrub the brake calipers and everything. Ive even had it detailed at a nice car wash a few times when i havent had the time to do it myself but yours seems to be clean it every little crack and line! lol

Whats the secret??

I have 70k on my car. The main reason it looks so clean is I live in AZ and it never rains...lol. I have a place that details it for me 2-3x a year...they do a killer job...engine too. That's about it man..

I have 87k on mine. I guess it is just the location that makes the difference. A complete detail for evey little piece on the car is $200 here. Maybe i should just get it done one time and keep up with it myself after that...

Perhaps it differs from manufacture to manufacture.
If you go to the Brembo site and go to their catalog (.pdf)and then click on the package insert, you'll see how the slotted rotors are supposed to installed. Based on the Brembo picture, the OP's mounted rotors don't look to be correct.
