How do you remove the sun visors on a 1988 Corvette?
My corvette has the targa top. I was wondering if I could get step by step instructions for removing the sun visors.

take top off you'll see 2 plastic bezels on top of windshield frame one on each side, take the two small screws out and remove bezel. as you see in last posters picture there is a metal retainer holding the visor shaft and spring assy in place, you have to pop that retainer off but be careful it's spring loaded and may hit you so wear safety glasses and put a rag over the clip once you get a tool under it to pry with, once the clip comes off the visor will drop out, if you have lighted mirrors in the visor you'll have to follow the wires to disconnect. If your removing the visors for good your done just replace bezels. If you want to replace them or re-install them you can get the retainers from Eckler's if you ruined them taking them out. Easy job. Good luck.

yep...is spring loaded...flew off about 5 feet when I took mine off!
I took mine off & haven't missed them since...they were worthless anyway...the top on my coupe hasn't been on in over a year & is much cleaner & more headroom w/o them anyway!

Melting Slicks
I slid a small screwdriver into the cutouts on the spring loaded retainer and pryed them up just enough to get them off. Pushed them back into place and it sure makes it easier if you have to take them off in the future. They fit fine and hold the visor with no problem.
