Courtesy light Timer
On a 1987 Corvette L98 the Courtesy Light Delay timer is next to the ECM under the dash on the passenger side. Pull it from the connector and you will see 5 pins on the connector. The board is protected by a black plastic enclosure. You can pull the board out of the enclosure to examine it. In my case, the power transistor in the heat sink was burned to a crisp.
I ordered a new one from Corvette Central (pricey little devil). I believe there are places that one can have it rebuilt or you can order a used one from one of the Covette Junk Yard (Tampa). Before I installed the new $100 one with shipping, I wanted to check the voltages on the connector to make sure they were correct. I did not want to plug in a new timer only to blow it too. The correct voltages are on page 8A-114-5,6 in the FSM. The diagram of the Connector is on page 8A-202-8. The circuit is on page 8A-114-2. The test for voltages and troubleshooting is as described and should be easy to follow unless you are going into a diabetic coma without realizing you have diabetis, like me.......cheers
