Removing the headliner ... how ?

Default Removing the headliner ... how ?

Is the liner board glued, velcro or some other method to the targa ?

I on my 92 the liner board was glue - stuck tight as a drum. I used a putty knife and just slowly worket it under the edges of the board towards the middle. Easy going until I could get my hand under it and then just gentlet pulled the board up. It all came up in one piece and I wall able to get the old headlner off and get it recovered. Scraping the old adhesive off the top was the fun part.

Mine was glued, others have said that theirs had velcro from the factory. But they glued the HECK out of mine!

Make sure that when you put it back in you use velcro, though, for future ease of removal.

I need the head room so was thinking of removing it and painting the underside of the top ....ya know I'm stuck in the 80's with the big hair. Ha Ha !

Some people have complained about heat after doing that. The board between the fabric and roof is insulation (oh yeah - don't forget to wear gloves, the fiberglass insulation will get you), so It really helps to block out a lot of the heat.

Yep, the top gets extremely warm.
