I have been looking for the post from back a couple of years. Someone here made their own screen to prevent big items from being sucked up into the "dead zone" between the radiator and the AC condensing unit. It had pictures and a very detailed explanation. I can't find it anywhere, and I have the screen material and would like to know if anyone remembers when/who/where this was. MY SEARCH did NOT pick it up (maybe I'm using the wrong search words, IDK).
That's not the one I was thinking about, but that one works as well. Thanks. Maybe the reason I didn't see this one in the search is I wasn't looking for anything that new. Now it's time for me to get out in the shop and "get-r-done".
I made my own. Took about 20 minutes. I measured and made a template out of cardboard first to make sure it fit. Then I marked and bent up the screen and used a couple of the stock/existing screws to secure it along with 2-3 zip ties. Painted it black and it looks great. I also bent the edges on the screen over about a 1/2 inch for a cleaner look and more strength for the attachment points.
I got the job done! I also made a cardboard pattern to "fit" the screen a little better than just whacking it off. I used special exterior zip ties to hold the bottom.
The finished product:
This one shows how I used the zip ties and affixed them on the back.
