Hi all, I spend most all my time in the C2 section because I have 2-C2's but I am also wanting to buy a 95 Indy Pace Car. Something under 15K miles. It will be my driver for long club trips. What kind of $$$ am I looking at spending? The car I buy will be like new. Anything spcl I should check for. I don't know that much about the C4's that is why I am asking you guys.
Thanks for your help in advance.
I think you're looking at a lot of $$$$$$. As far as what to look for they are a 95 Corvette...a very special 95, but they aren't really any different than a regular one. There was one on here for sale some time back, that was just about what you are looking for, seems they were asking $35k.
C4 vette's have the usual problems that come with age, but here are a couple I found when I was looking.
1) Most vettes I saw with sport seats, the lumber support did not work. They have a problem with there bladders(no joke).
2) They are like street sweepers, in that they collect a lot of trash in the radiator. Causes overheating problems.
3) Check the weather stripping, mine was worn around the a pilliar and along the targa top.
4) Bose systems with CD's, are usually not working by now or just about to go out. Bring a CD to check.
5) No real issues that I have heard about with the engines, just check the weep holes on the water pump for signs of leaking. They tend to leak right onto the opti and cause issues. Opti's get a bum rap, they are better than a distributor, but because they live under the water pump, they tend to cause problems, but mostly for the 92-94 years.
The weep hole is on the passenger side of the pump.
Cant think of anything else, to get an idea of the money. Check Rogers corvette on their website.
There right here by me and I think they had a Pace car, not sure what year, they can also dealer locate one for you and they really inspect a car before they sell it.
IMHO...If you are looking to buy a '95 pace car you will most probably not have to worry about the "regular" things that most buyers look for in a used/pre-owned Vette.
There were only 525 or 527 of those made--All convertables. It was a well know fact when they came out that there where going to be only those few made.
Anyone who owns one most likely "knows" what they have and most likley has taken very good care of it and kept the miles relatively low.
If you do happen to find one that has been "driven" the price would reflect that. I'm sure if you have looked around for one, you probably noticed they are well taken care of.
That being said, I personally don't think it is particularly the best looking Vette, but at 525/527 (I believe 525 was the number produced fo the USA market and the remaining two for Canada) It is one rare C4
There is one at a Corvette Dealer in Atlanta. I have seen the car while visiting The Last Detail and its in good shape. It seems to be a good deal. They are asking around 28k for the car. Its got 36k miles on it. Heres the ad if you are interested: http://usedcorvettesforsale.com/1995...tte-19619.html
